There are many moving parts in garage doors and garage door openers. Almost all garage door components and openers are made of metal with sharp edges or points. There can be burrs and frays in cables. Door sections, door tracks, and door rollers can cause pinch points.

To replace garage door bottom bracket:

  • Safety equipment and tools are available to you.
  • Gloves and safety glasses are always recommended to be worn.

Changing of garage door cables and bottom brackets-torsion spring door:

You will need the following tools to replace the garage door bottom bracket:

  • Rods or winding bars made of metal
  • A pair of locking pliers
  • Using a ladder
  • There are a variety of sockets
  • The following wrench sizes are available: 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16

A center bearing plate is mounted on the front of the frame, with a spring or springs attached at the center. With cables coming from the backside of the cable drums, it has cable drums and bearing plates.

Follow the given steps to change garage door cables and bottom brackets-torsion spring door:

  • The door opener should be unplugged from the electrical outlet. Pull the arm of the opener from the wall.
  • Close your garage door and secure the track above the middle roller with clamps.
  • Loosen the set-screws on the winding cones while firmly holding on to the winding bar.
  • Unwind the second torsion spring on the double spring door if you have two torsion springs.
  • To remove the cable drum, loosen the set screws and then slide the cable drum away from the end bearing plate. Disconnect the cable from the cable drum.
  • Disconnect truck and remove bottom bracket: disconnect the light bolt that holds the bottom bracket to the wall.
  • Flip the truck over and remove the bottom bracket from the door. The cable should be removed from the bottom bracket and then completely removed from the door.
  • Attach the bottom bracket to the garage door by putting the cable behind the roller and frame.
  • Ensure that the cable is running directly from the bottom bracket to the cable drone, then install the line in the drum and set it in place: first, ensure that the cable is clear of any obstructions.
  • Sliding the cable drum firmly against the end bearing plate, tighten the set screws on the cable drum.
